Which Direction Are You Pushing the World?
On the homepage, I asked a very important question:
Which direction are you helping push the world?
Toward love?
Or toward hate?
That is not a small question.
In fact, it may be one of the most important questions any of us can ask ourselves.
Because if you are tired of this hateful world, but you are living in bitterness, anger, resentment, and frustration — and then taking that out on others — then it may be time to stop and look in the mirror.
Because if that is what you are doing, then whether you realize it or not, you are helping hate spread.
Is that really what you want?
And here may be an even more important question:
Do you even realize you are doing it?
If most people were honest, I think many would admit they probably do not.
They are hurt.
They are tired.
They are frustrated.
They are disappointed.
They are angry.
And before long, what has been planted in them starts coming out of them.
That is how hate spreads.
Hate is like a seed planted in the soul.
And like any seed, it grows.
But hate does not grow like a beautiful flower.
It grows like a weed.
And like weeds, if it is not dealt with, it spreads.
So if the hate in this world is something you hate, but you are allowing that same hate to come out of you, then you are only helping it spread.
You are planting the very kind of seeds that push the world in the wrong direction.
Is that what you really want?
Now ask yourself another question.
And this may be the most important question on this page:
What are you willing to do to help push the world away from hate and toward love?
Stop for a moment.
Read that again.
What are you willing to do to help push the world away from hate and toward love?
Because if you want to see this world become a better place, then does it not make sense to become the kind of person you would like to see more of?
Yes, I am calling you out.
I am.
And I am doing it intentionally.
Not because I think I am better than you.
Not because I want you to feel judged.
But because this matters.
Jim Rohn said it well:
If you want things to change, you have to change.
If you want things to get better, you have to get better.
That is worth reading again too.
If you want things to change, you have to change.
If you want things to get better, you have to get better.
Seeds of hate will only continue to spread like weeds unless people like you and me decide we are willing to spread another kind of seed.
Seeds that make a difference.
Seeds that bring hope to those who feel hopeless.
Seeds that bring light into a world that is growing dark.
Seeds that push back against despair, bitterness, and anger.
Seeds that feed the soul with joy, kindness, mercy, patience, and love.
If you want the world to change, then you have to be willing to change.
If you are not willing…
If you just sit back and wait for others to be nice to you first…
Then the change you are hoping for may never come.
And the result is this:
You may keep helping push the world toward the very hate you say you hate.
That is a hard truth.
But it is still true.
There are many people in this world who have been hurt by hate so deeply that they have withdrawn from life.
They are waiting for others to be kind first.
Waiting for someone else to smile first.
Waiting for someone else to reach out first.
Waiting for someone else to prove love is still worth trusting.
And while everyone waits, hate keeps spreading, and spreading, and spreading.
That is why I am asking you — maybe even pleading with you — if you hate what hate is doing to this world, then help me change it.
I cannot do this alone.
This kind of message has to spread through people.
People like you.
Tell someone about this site.
Share it on social media.
Tell your friends.
Tell your family.
Tell your co-workers.
Tell your neighbors.
Tell the people you know are tired of all the hate.
And yes, even tell your enemies.
If you attend church, maybe tell your pastor about it too.
Because sadly, even among people who claim to follow Christ, there are many who have a mouthful of Scripture, but a heart full of hate.
If you do not believe me, visit some online Christian discussion groups and watch how people speak to one another.
It can be heartbreaking.
People who claim to love God can be cruel, proud, harsh, mocking, judgmental, and hateful toward each other.
How did that happen?
The same way it happens everywhere else.
Hate spreads like weeds.
So let’s spread a different kind of seed.
A seed that is loving.
A seed that is kind.
A seed that is compassionate.
A seed that brings hope, joy, and healing into the world.
I said it earlier, and it bears repeating:
If you want things to change, you have to change. If you want things to get better, you have to get better.
So here is the question:
Are you willing to help change the world by refusing to spread hate and choosing instead to spread seeds of love?
Keep returning to this site.
Not because this site is anything special by itself.
But because we all need reminders.
The cares of this world can drown people in sorrow.
The internet can feed your mind with outrage, anger, bitterness, division, and fear.
And if that is what you keep feeding your mind, do not be surprised when that is what begins coming out of your heart.
So maybe it is time to change what you are feeding yourself.
Instead of browsing the web looking for more reasons to be angry, look for someone who needs encouragement.
Look for the sorrowful.
Look for the lonely.
Look for the hurting.
Look for those poor souls who need a little love in their life.
And then plant a different kind of seed.
You may find that some of those people are already in your inner circle.
They may be inside the walls of your own home.
They may be at your workplace.
They may be at your church.
They may be standing right in front of you, waiting like so many others, hoping someone will be kind first.
So go forth and be that someone.
And if you ask, “How?”
That part is simple.
Choose to be nice.
Choose to be kind.
Choose to be patient.
Choose to plant seeds of love instead of seeds of hate.
Because if you feed your mind with hate, it will grow in that direction.
But if you begin feeding your mind with love — and then go out and plant as many seeds of love as possible — something begins to change.
Not only around you.
But inside you.
So go forth and spread the luv.
And watch what begins to happen.
A Final Thought
You are helping push the world in one direction or the other.
Toward love.
Or toward hate.
There is no neutral ground when hate is spreading.
So choose carefully.
Plant better seeds.
Be the kind of person you wish there were more of.
Because hate spreads.
But love can spread too.
Stand up in the fight against hate. Choose to spread the luv!
